About Mike

Twenty-four years of leading, coaching, and advising, in uniform and out.

Mike Mobbs has spent twenty-four years building and leading high-performing teams in environments where the cost of poor judgment was measured in lives. He served as a Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment, and as an Infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division, then went on to lead complex staffs inside some of the Department of Defense’s most consequential organizations.

He graduated from West Point, cum laude, then served in operational and staff roles across some of the Army’s most demanding units. He commanded a rifle company in the 82nd Airborne Division that deployed to Afghanistan during the 2014 national election, served as chief of staff of The Old Guard, the 3rd US Infantry Regiment, and led operations research for a national-priority Counter-WMD program at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Between assignments he earned a master’s in history from the University of Pennsylvania, with a thesis on the history of risk and decision-making in the Army, and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. The mix of operational experience and formal training reads as cleanly in a boardroom as on a battle staff.

Today Mike works with founders, solopreneurs, and senior executives navigating the dilemmas that don’t have textbook answers. He advises startups scaling past first revenue, supports operators stepping into bigger scope, and coaches the patterns and posture that leaders need to operate at the level their next role demands. And because much of his own career was spent in classified environments, he can work with leaders whose teams operate inside secure spaces where an outside coach usually cannot go.

He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and two daughters.
